Recently, I listed my house for sale but needed to cancel my listing for personal reasons. Although I signed an exclusive seller brokerage agreement, I felt my agent was not working on my behalf because she was insistent that I sell it. When I shared with my agent that I would be homeless because my original plans fell through, she showed no interest in following through with my wishes. The buyers and the buyer's agent threatened to sue me continuously, and my agent appeared to be colluding on their behalf by pressuring me to sell. I felt alone as if I had no dog in this fight, and I could not rely on my agent for a possible solution. I reached out to Chuma for help, and he called around to find me any real estate attorneys and litigators who could help me. He also shared information from the Atlanta Realtors Association in connection with the code of ethics practices, which was helpful. That's when I discovered the meaning of breach of fiduciary duty. Without becoming involved in the matter, he showed compassion, support, and consistent care of positive reinforcement. He reviewed letters and emails I wrote before I sent them and helped me understand what being someone's fiduciary and representative is supposed to be about. When I would ask him what he would say in certain situations, he always provided a response that made me realize if he were my real estate agent, he would have fought for me and did his best to work on my behalf for a solution. He always remained professional and never put down my agent. Instead, he only provided what he would have done if he were representing me, and throughout remained an emotional source of support and guidance, and always shared resources and connections that could legally help me. In the end, with the advice of an attorney and Chuma's unwavering support, I was able to keep my house without being sued—nor did I suffer any damages. Chuma was not my fiduciary, yet he always made himself available for me. I know time is money, but it didn't matter to him. He always took my calls when I felt lost, alone, scared, and hopeless. Had it not been for his support, I would not have been victorious in this matter. All along, I wished he was my realtor. That said, I highly recommend him. When I had my first Zoom meeting with Chuma, I knew that I had found someone good. Not only had I found a good realtor, I had found a good, honest, genuine person. My plan was to move from California to Georgia. Chuma diligently sent listings of houses he thought I would like. With houses he really thought I would like, he always went the extra mile. One day, he even went out in a bad rainstorm and shot video for me! He consistently followed up with either text message or phone calls.
